The data displayed in the visualisation tool, SERVICE, is calculated in a holistic ship model, the Whole Ship Model, written in Python. The Whole Ship Model pre-calculates lots of detailed information for a range of ships with different design characteristics and operating parameters (sometimes 50MB to 100MB data files are used). Different ship design variants and efficiency methods representing different ships (or shipping fleets) to be quickly calculated.
